After 2 days of painting the health centre its amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do to lift the spirits. The mission team was joined by about 20 local volunteers including both high school students and health care workers.


While visiting Ethiopia the mission team takes time to drive back to Addis to participate in a church service at the Faith Bible International church. Only open for a couple of months the church now has more than 1000 people attending.


To provide some practical assistance to the community the mission team helped paint the local health care centre. Some of the local high school students decided to come out and help the team paint.¬† It turned out that “rollers” were a novel concept for Ethiopians that made to whole painting process much quicker.


To provide a valuable keepsake for the high school students the mission team lead a craft time  where the students made a self photo picture and frame that they were able to customize


Over the 2 days that the mission team ran the leadership camp we had at least 100 students participate enthusiastically. The team got the students to report out the findings of the mind mapping exercises and creativity was rewarded with some snazzy Hopethiopia prizes. Glenda leads the report out session. Day 1 of the High School leadership camp began with some fun out of the box activities including: Dress like a Canadian, sing some songs, answer the “Top 10″ questions. Break time

A newly consrtucted picnic table becomes home for the team lunch. At the moment this is winter in Ethiopia and the rainy season can bring heavy rains which is great news for the farmenrs and for reforestation but can be a real damper on outdoor lunches.


One of the cornerstone projects of HOPEthiopia is that of reforestation. The mission team participated in starting up reforestation at the new north nursery site by planting trees provided by Eden Reforestation projects. Here team members are shown planting a variety of seedlings.

Farming in Harbu Chulule

The Hopethiopia Community team arrived in Ethiopia on July 18th and hit the ground runing after acclimatizing to the 8000′ altitude.
