Hiking into an Ethiopian Volcano

One of the unique adventure opportunities that Melanie, Lindsay, and Sarah got to experience was that of hiking into Wenchi crater. A volcanic crater where the hike starts at an altitude of 10,500 feet.

The team gather for a pre hike photo at the top of the crater.

The team dropped about 4000 feet down to the hot springs that are found just below Wenchi lake

The team relaxes after a very dry and dusty hike. We got to taste some of the natural bubling "Ambo" spring water that coes out of the rocks.

Everyone then took turns having a hot shower. Beautiful hot water shoots out in a water=fall .

Hot water comes out from a water fall from above.

After hiking back up to the lake the team goes for a refreshing swim in the volcanic lake.

Wenchi lake is home to an ancient Orthodox monastery that has existed on an island for 400 years.
